Massa Marittima

Just half an hour’s drive from Castiglione della Pescaia, Massa Marittima is considered one of the best preserved medieval villages in Italy. Its walls enclose narrow streets and stone buildings that converge in the wonderful square with the Cathedral of San Cerbone, the site of traditional summer events, such as the Balestro del Girifalco, an ancient crossbow contest between the various neighbourhoods.
